The Address Matching module allows users to match two fields, one from the NLPG property data and one from an external source such as Council Tax. If successful, a cross reference ID is attached to the gazetteer property record to identify the unique reference of that property in the external source dataset. Checking and entering the cross references of thousands of properties could take months if done manually.
With the address matching tool, the links can be established as a bulk process and can be repeated for the many different applications which use address datasets (Planning, Land Charges, Housing, etc). This adds immediate corporate value to the NLPG database by creating direct cross references, and providing the basis for essential and potentially automated address lookups by front office staff and systems.
