Croydon, 12 May 2011 – Surrey based Runnymede Borough Council is set to realise a range of back office efficiencies following the introduction of a new system that will join up disparate Council data and information management systems. The Gazetteer Management Software from GGP Systems provides a range of tools for the day to day management of essential address data together with a range of functionality to integrate with other Council systems such as those used in call centres, online and in the delivery of frontline services.

Runnymede Borough Council’s Director of Technical Services Peter Sims, said: “The key features we required from a new gazetteer management system and supplier were a cost efficient solution over the next five years, compatibility with existing software and ease of connecting – both financially and technically – to other in-house systems.”

The software, GGP NGz, will be used to manage the Runnymede’s Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) – part of a national, definitive address database that provides a unique ID for every single property in England and Wales. GGP NGz is also designed to be compatible with the newly introduced National Address Gazetteer (NAG); based on an amalgamation of the National Land and Property Gazetteer, the National Street Gazetteer and Ordnance Survey’s Address Layer 2.

Runnymede Borough Council hope that following the implementation of GGP NGz they will be able to maintain ‘Gold’ standard address data across the Council in place since the Autumn of 2010 and provide access to the data for all staff via an address search function. The council also plans to integrate the address data within their Geographical Information System (GIS) and web mapping service as well as systems in place in other service delivery areas.

Peter Sims continued: “One of the main reasons we selected the GGP solution was their experience and expertise. GGP Systems is dedicated to gazetteers and GIS solutions in the public sector.  As we move forward and integrating the data with other in house systems and third party software, their support will be essential.”

GGP NGz software has been specifically developed to ensure a consistent, up to date and accurate base for all property based information within an organisation. GGP NGz also manages the import and export of data between the local authority databases and the NLPG, the national hub, and the complete product suite was one of the first two software solutions to receive accreditation for address data transfer (DTF 7.3), is fully compliant with BS7666 and users of GGP software scooped five out of 6 awards at the 2010 NLPG Exemplar Awards.
