Gazetteer Management Software from GGP Systems is helping a Leicestershire Council communicate plans for a proposed new town. In a second round of consultation for New Lubbesthorpe, Blaby District Council has used GGP NGz software to help prepare more than 8,000 letters to local residents and businesses and collate and manage the responses. The first round of consultation also used GGP NGz to prepare and dispatch notifications and the Council received more than 1,500 responses.
“Our Local Land and Property Gazetteer, maintained and managed using GGP’s gazetteer management software has been an essential resource for this complex and on-going planning consultation,” commented Jo Hickling, Planning Systems Officer at Blaby District Council. “While it is not possible to say that without the LLPG and GGP NGz the consultation would not have been possible it is certainly fair to say the process would have been more time consuming, more costly and far less effective!”
New Lubbesthorpe is a proposed major housing development close to the existing village of Lubbesthorpe in Leicestershire. The original plans included 4,250 homes, shops, schools, community facilities, public open space, two motorway bridges (across the M1 and M69) and 21 hectares of employment land and were first submitted in February 2011 by Hallam Land Management, Barratt and David Wilson Homes and Davidson Developments. Changes to the original plans, resulting in the second round of consultation, include revised locations for the district centre, one of the local centres and one of the primary schools and amends to the designs for the bridges across the M1 and M69. An additional 4,600 sq metre employment site is also included in the revised plans.
GGP NGz software as used by Blaby District Council has been specifically developed to ensure a consistent, up to date and accurate base for all property based information within an organisation. GGP NGz also manages the import and export of data between the local authority databases and the NLPG, the national hub. The complete product suite was one of the first software solutions to receive accreditation for address data transfer (DTF 7.3), is fully compliant with BS7666.
Using GGP NGz, Blaby District Council was named as best performing authority in the East Midlands region, following an award in 2009 for the ‘Most Improved’, and has continued to achieve a Gold Standard award for the quality and accuracy of their local address database at the National Gazetteer Exemplar Awards in the following years.
