GGP NLPG software gains national accreditation for NLPG:2006 BS7666 |
GGP Systems, the UK's leading provider of geospatial solutions for local government, has received national accreditation for its NGz Gazetteer Management software . The accreditation process tested for the software's ability to import and export gazetteer data in the new National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG): 2006 Data Transfer format 7.3 through 4 different stages of development. GGP NGz is only the second software package to win accreditation out of 21 considered.
GGP NGz is specifically designed to manage a Council's Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG); ensuring a consistent, up to date and accurate base for all property based information. GGP NGz also provides an interface between the local authority database and other council's property database systems and the NLPG central hub.
"A recent government report estimated savings in the region of £55 million through the use of address databases within UK local authorities. GGP Systems is the only UK software supplier dedicated to developing solutions for local authorities helping them to reduce costs and improve efficiencies therefore providing a real return on investment. It is only through the dedication and months of hard work by our NLPG team that we have been able to reach this important milestone." Said Tim Maxwell, Managing Director of GGP Systems.
"There are 375 Councils with a statutory responsibility for maintaining accurate and up to date address databases and it is one of our duties to ensure that we support them to the best of our ability," said Michael Nicholson, Managing Director of Intelligent Addressing the custodians of the NLPG central hub and managers of the accreditation process. "By ensuring the software solutions meet the highest standards we can reduce the workload of local government while improving both the accuracy and currency of the data helping to make the vision of a national address database a reality."
The NLPG enables various local authority departments - from revenue collection and environmental health, to social security, the electoral roll and education - to now offer true ‘joined up' government with benefits that go beyond service delivery. Fraud prevention, tax collection and disaster planning all benefit from the fact that each property is given a ‘Unique Property Reference Number' for life, transcending numbers, names, descriptions and postcodes.
