GGP updated software links support Open Government |
|
GGP Systems is making local authority information easier to access thanks to a new range of software interfaces that allow council information to be viewed through on-screen maps. The developments add a positional element to a wide range of council data including anti-social behaviour reports, planning applications and street lighting records. Management information generated by ‘back office' information systems can be displayed against digital mapping, analysed to identify patterns or trends and integrated with front of house systems including a council's CRM or website.
Developed to facilitate the exchange of data between departments the interfaces connect systems such as CAPS UNI-form, Ocella Planning System and MapInfo (formerly SBS Confirm). Supporting GGP's Open Government Geographic Information (OGGI) policy, the open interface of GGP GIS means these links are interactive, seamless and easy to use ensuring corporate wide access to centralised information. This eliminates data duplication, which can lead to inaccuracies, reduces the costs associated with maintaining multiple datasets and improves the accuracy and efficiency of service delivery.
"GIS, although key, is just one of the components of a council's IT infrastructure," said Tim Maxwell, Managing Director of GGP Systems. "In order for a council to deliver the full range of services to residents in an efficient, timely and cost effective way it is essential that all data and systems are open and integrated. Only then will a council be able to provide a truly joined-up approach to government." He continued, "With our Open Government Geographic Information (OGGI) initiative it is hoped that GGP will encourage a more open approach and free interchange of data within Government."
