Havering council scores top points with GGP
GGP at LB HaveringGGP's NGz National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) management software, GGP Geographic Information System (GIS) and the eGGP web mapping solution have proved essential tools with the Council, which also received the third highest Planning Delivery Grant in the country for the year 2006/7.

GGP's NGz National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) management software, GGP Geographic Information System (GIS) and the eGGP web mapping solution have proved essential tools with the Council, which also received the third highest Planning Delivery Grant in the country for the year 2006/7.

"To achieve the demands that are placed on us by our customers, central government and our own high expectations it is vital we invest in tools that will support our efforts." Said Michael White, Leader of the Council and Lead Member for IT. He continued, "GIS has proved to be a good investment delivering a measurable return, supporting timely and accurate decision making and improving the service we provide to the community."

Havering has implemented eGGP to publish geographic information on both their Intranet and public access web site and to link to their planning and document imaging systems. eGGP was fundamental in achieving points 20 and 21 of the Pendleton criteria and also a key element in achieving G5 of the Priority Service Outcomes.

GGP GIS is used throughout the organisation with over 200 users across a number of departments, including Planning, Environmental Health, Highways, Education and Parks. The Council are working towards a central GIS team that will enable them to ensure the quality of the data and promote sharing of information and resources.  The GGP NGz system is meanwhile used to maintain the Council's gazetteer (LLPG) that includes over 91,200 unique land and property records as part of a central address dataset that will form a centralised record for all departments.
