GGP helps joined up services in County Durham

ggp-easingtonkioskwebNovember 2008 - GGP Systems is helping the District of Easington Council transform public services in County Durham. Using a specially developed address management system, Easington Council is feeding up-to-date property records to the countywide Customer Relationship Management (CRM) service as part of an innovative E-Government project. GGP NGz is also enabling the Council to join up essential back office systems through the use of the Local Land and Property Gazetteer, providing a consistent base for decision making and service delivery.

Prior to the selection of GGP NGz the Council had already created their property gazetteer using information from the District's Council Tax records and Electoral Role together with Ordnance Survey ADDRESS-POINT. "Having come to the conclusion that our previous solution was not up to the task of maintaining our corporate gazetteer we chose GGP NGz as it provided the best value for money," commented Simon Lewthwaite, LLPG Custodian and GIS Officer for Easington. "Since then the support we have received from GGP has been excellent with responses to our queries, however small, usually within the hour!"

Using GGP NGz, Easington is planning to continue the roll out of the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) across the organisation. Currently the Council's Building Control and Planning system and their Geographical Information System (GIS) are populated with data from the gazetteer and new systems that will be linked include Environmental Health, Housing and Electoral Role. GGP NGz is also used to maintain the LLPG on a daily basis and provide updates to the National Hub contributing to the National Land and Property Gazetteer the definitive, national address database for England and Wales.

"GGP NGz is a robust solution for the maintenance and management of a corporate property gazetteer," continued Lewthwaite, "supporting our efforts to build firm foundations of information resources and management systems ahead of the Local Government restructuring that comes into effect next year."

GGP NGz is specifically designed to manage a Council's LLPG; ensuring a consistent, up to date and accurate base for all property based information within the organisation. GGP NGz also manages the import and export of data between the local authority database and the NLPG, the national hub. The complete GGP NGz product suite was one of the first two software solutions to receive accreditation to the new national address standard BS7666.
