GGP Upgrades e-Government Offering

GGP Upgrades eGovernment OfferingCroydon, UK, 24 March 2009 – GGP Systems has released a new version of its award winning gazetteer management software. GGP eNLPG is specifically designed to facilitate access to and management of the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) via the Internet or corporate intranet. Already providing benefit to Local Authorities and Emergency Services across the UK this latest version of the software also includes advanced search and reporting functionality, faster processing and improved compatibility with the national addressing standard BS7666 DTF 7.3.

The NLPG is the first and only national, definitive database of addresses since the Doomsday Book, joining up service delivery, transforming government and delivering e-Government initiatives. GGP’s Gazetteer Management Software is specifically designed to manage a centralised address database; ensuring a consistent, up to date and accurate base for all property based information within an organisation.

One of the first software solutions to receive accreditation to the new national address standard BS7666 GGP’s system also manages the import and export of data between local databases and the national gazetteer hub. GGP’s latest version builds on this success enabling easy access to and dissemination of Public Records via the web delivering real benefits to, not only, Councils, Emergency Services and their partner organisations but also to the local community.

Tom Watson MP, Cabinet Office Minister for Transformational Government said, "More and more people are using the Internet to carry out everyday tasks like banking and shopping, and they have the right to expect that the public services they rely on are available in the same way. The Government is committed to making our public services stronger, more efficient and more accessible than ever before, and we can only achieve this by making the most of the opportunities that the digital age opens up.”

The NLPG enables various Local Authority departments to offer a true ‘joined up’ government with benefits that go beyond service delivery. Fraud prevention, tax collection and disaster planning all benefit from the fact that each property is given a ‘Unique Property Reference Number’ for life, transcending numbers, names, descriptions and postcodes. The NLPG has also been chosen as one of the foundations for a GBP 1 billion Government initiative to increase resilience and enhance the capability of the Fire and Rescue service to deal with all types of incidents, including major emergencies.
